Dear County Auditors,
Happy New Year!
As we are filled with the hope and promise that a new year brings, let’s briefly reflect on the very difficult year just concluded.
The coronavirus health crisis may have impacted us in different ways personally. But as county auditors, we collectively shared similar challenges.
While our offices were shut down and staff were remote working or out sick, we often had to do more with less. We had to carry out our responsibilities under new pressures and revised procedures. We
were given a significant new role with our county’s CARES Act federal grants. We had to master the art of teleconference meetings. We had to be flexible and compromise
and expect the unexpected -- all the while making payroll, issuing tax bills, finishing
settlement, certifying net AVS, preparing budgets, handling a rise in re-financings, and everything in between.
What a year it was to be a county auditor!
We survived. And we gained new insights!
As we begin 2021, join me in wishing a very heartfelt farewell to the out-going county
auditors. You have served your constituents with dedication and
professionalism, and we will miss you. Good luck to you all in your new endeavors.
Join me also in welcoming the 13 newly
elected auditors. We are eager to get to know you and support you.
Personally, I am excited to see what new opportunities
await in 2021 to help us all serve the taxpayers effectively and efficiently. Our hope as an Association is to have a full agenda this year. We have much to do, and much to learn from each other. Together, we will be
well prepared to carry out our Association's mission:
“To provide the highest standard of excellence in assisting
and representing County Auditors of the State of Indiana”
Onward to a new and fantastic year!
Stay healthy,
Vicki Urbanik
